Tearsheet Features NDG Founder’s Views on Electronic Grocery Payments

Note to readers: Mobile Market+ was rebranded to TotilPay in February 2020.

Tearsheet, a leading media company focused on technology’s impact on the financial services and fintech industry, spoke to our founder and president Josh Wiles about the payment trends that we will likely see in the EBT payment space in 2020. According to Josh, the use of electronic payments methods will accelerate as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) completes rollout of its e-card (by October), and small grocers and farmers’ markets adopt new solutions that allow them to accept these payment cards.

Not only do small grocers now have the option to upgrade from legacy POS terminals to intuitive, user-friendly and cost-effective mobile alternatives, but the cooperative agreement between the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and the National Association of Farmers Market Nutrition Programs (NAFMNP) to provide markets who accept SNAP with access to TotilPay, formerly known as Mobile Market+, will also accelerate the rate of growth in electronic grocery payments.
